Have you seen all those headless bodies just littering the Arizona desert? Until just today, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer claimed those headless bodies were everywhere, proof that her law cracking down on illegal immigration was desperately needed.

The problem is that those headless bodies were an urban legend (or a lie, take your pick) of her own invention. And in spite of a lack of any evidence to support her claim which was designed to scare the public into being even more irrationally afraid of illegal immigrants, she stuck to this story. Until now.

Yesterday Gov. Jan Brewer got called out on her home-made urban myth by her rival, Democrat challenger Terry Goddard, but she refused to answer the question. She was again questioned about the fake decapitated bodies after the debate by reporters demanding she retract the headless body rumor which has been scaring away businesses, young children and people who just want to keep their heads.

Now Gov. Brewer has admitted that she “mispoke’ when referring to the headless bodies, insisting she was referring to the headless bodies in Mexico.  But that is also a lie; here is what she said:

Arizona governor admits she was wrong about beheadings–AP

Brewer apparently first referred to beheadings during a June 16 interview with Fox News, talking about “the kidnappings and the extortion and the beheadings and the fact that people can’t feel safe in their community” in discussing controversy surrounding the immigration law.

She went further in a June 27 interview on Phoenix television station KPNX when asked about the beheadings claim.

“Oh, our law-enforcement agencies have found bodies in the desert, either buried or just lying out there, that have been beheaded,” Brewer said.

None of the southern Arizona coroners who handle immigrant cases have encountered headless bodies.

So feel safe America, Arizona won’t steal your head when you go visit Aunt Sally. Just don’t visit Governor Brewer, a real life living urban myth who evidently has lost he mind.
