Christopher Butterfield Hacker Warning e-mail Hoax

The facts: This is a HOAX

The Christoper Butterfield hoax e-mail and version of it has circulated for many years.  You get an email warning not to accept afriend request from “fill in name of your enemy here” in order to scare off anyone from accepting friend requests from someones ex boyfriend.girlfrriend/boss or frememy.  These are typical Revenge In The Mail-type hoaxes designed to do someone else harm by making their friend requests look dangerous..  They are also ridiculous because accepting a frind request is harmless, unless that frined is names Lindsay Lohan! Basically there is no way that someone else can get access to your email account just by knowing your email address so don’t believe a word of this message when you receive it.

Subject: Fw: hacker warning

“Do not accept a friend request from a CHRISTOPHER BUTTERFIELD he is a hacker. Tell everyone on your list because if somebody on your list adds him u get him on your list too and he’ll figure out ur computer’s ID and address, so copy and paste this message to everyone even if u don’t care for them cause if he hacks their email he hacks your mail too! SEND TO ALL FRIENDS”
